Moving Day Tips: What to Do While the Movers Handle the Heavy Lifting

Moving day is finally here! So, what do you do while all this is happening? Here’s a guide to keep you busy, helpful, and—let’s be honest—out of the way.

1. Check the Inventory List

Most moving companies will ask the client to provide an inventory list, and at Reliance Moving Solutions, we personally call our clients before moving day to go over the inventory list again. This ensures accuracy and keeps all belongings accounted for—especially crucial for long-distance moves and final pricing. If a client leaves items off the inventory list to save costs, the move may take longer than estimated, making the final price higher than expected. Double-checking and being honest when giving your inventory list helps avoid any surprises!

2. Give a Home Tour

Before the movers dive in, take a moment to walk them through your home. Point out any fragile items, specific furniture placement requests, or tricky spots they should be aware of. If you have any special instructions—like which boxes should go in certain rooms—this is the perfect time to share them.

3. Stay Available Without Hovering
